I am happy to announce that Dr. Ron Trosper has started at the UA in his position as Head of the American Indian Studies Program (AIS).

Passing the baton to Dr. Trosper is Dr. Joe Hiller, who recently stepped down from the Head position after several years of providing strong vision and leadership of AIS and the associated Graduate Interdisciplinary Program (GIDP)

Prof. Trosper has academic expertise in indigenous economic theory, traditional ecological knowledge, aboriginal forestry, American Indian economic development, and ecological and environmental economics.  He holds a Ph.D. from Harvard University and has worked in tribal government and policy as well as in academia. Dr. Trosper comes to the UA via previous appointments at the University of British Columbia and Northern Arizona University.
